1. How much does each course cost?
Each course is $40.
2. What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, credit card (Visa or MasterCard), and email transfer.
3. Why are there no refunds?
There are no refunds due to the fact that all course material is available all at once when you register.
4. Is this a self-paced course?
Yes. This is a self-paced online course with a dedicated instructor who will be there to support you every step of the way.
5. Is there a start date or deadline?
There is no start date. The courses are ongoing so you can start anytime — even on a Wednesday. You have one year to finish the course.
6. How many modules and assignments are there?
Each course has eight modules. Each module has numerous exercises, with one assignment per module that can be sent in. You do not have to send anything in if you do not want to.
7. Will my work be graded or marked?
Nothing is marked. Sending in work gives me an opportunity to make observations, share little notes with you, and send affirmations.
8. What if I miss a week?
If you miss a week you just make it up on your own. This is a self-paced course so there are no deadlines.
9. Can I jump ahead in the lessons?
You certainly can jump ahead if you like. I would not suggest it because you lose some of the dynamics of working with other people on the Zoom calls.
10. Do I have to join the Facebook group?
Yes. Joining the group “Healing Through ART” is mandatory.
11. What is Corner Cove Cafe?
Corner Cove Cafe is a place where people can sell their goods, talk about different types of art, and ask questions about different types of art. It’s a community-based group of people that are art fanatics.
12. How do I participate in class?
You participate by coming to the group or the website, leaving comments, asking questions, and sharing your experiences. It’s about building a community of people talking to each other.
13. What are your office hours?
My office hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
14. What is in the newsletter?
The newsletter is filled with art information: what is texture, what is impasto painting, what is collage. It also gives you ideas of different things you can make and how to make them, exploring watercolor and acrylic. A wide variety of things all tucked into one.
15. What is in the blog?
The blog covers things I have heard on Facebook — people saying they don’t know if they’re an artist, asking how much to sell work for, where to put their work. It’s a collection of things I’ve seen that I thought other people would benefit from.
16. I have a disability. Can I still do this course?
Yes. There is no one that cannot do art because of a disability. I am riddled with disability and I fight every day to do work. Don’t worry — you will finish the course.
17. What art supplies do I need?
The full list of art supplies is available on the website. But basically: get some cheap clay at the dollar store, pick up a couple cheap brushes and cheap paint. You don’t need anything fancy. It’s the act of doing art, not the art itself. Paper, pencils, erasers, a jar to put water in — nothing serious.
18. What happens on the Zoom calls?
The first 30 minutes is a brief talk about what we did in the lesson, and to go over last week’s assignments or any problems people emailed me about. The next hour is my presentation. We’re going to have some fun — we’ll do some kind of art, something fun and exciting. I’ll be speaking throughout, so as long as you have audio on your phone, laptop, or computer you’ll be able to hear me.
19. What will I get out of this course?
You will get a deeper understanding of who you are and how you face and deal with life’s issues that arise for all of us. You will also learn many different mediums of art.
20. What do you mean by “The Silver Lining”?
The Silver Lining is finding hope, peace, and joy. Even if a situation is in turmoil, there’s always some little light that you have to search for and grab hold of. That’s The Silver Lining.
21. What is The Silver Lining course about?
The Silver Lining is a 16-week immersive creative healing journey. You are required to complete 2 modules per week for the full 16 weeks. It uses structured art-based practices for emotional exploration, personal reflection, and deeper self-understanding. For more in-depth information, please refer to the website.
